Moonee Valley racecourse is preparing for a big night of racing come Friday, September 24 as the track will play host to a number of noteworthy races. The 2010 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) is among them. The nominations for the race have been announced with a field of 18 runners stepping forward.
While there is a long list of quality stayers, two major contenders for the $200,000 title stand out. Hollowlea and Epic Dragon hold the highest ratings among the nominations and are expected to do well in the upcoming event.
The Terry and Karina O’Sulivan-trained Hollowlea heads the nominations with a rating of 84. The three-year-old colt made history by earning his shot at the upcoming Bill Stutt Stakes with a very impressive win in the listed Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes (1400m) at Flemington earlier this month.
Epic Dragon will be another runner to watch. The three-year-old colt is coming into this one off of a big win in the $70,000 Spotless Handicap (1500m) earlier on this month. It was a dramatic finish for the son of Al Maher as he stole the win from Ulandi and topped fellow Stutt Stakes nominations Run For Levi and Muchos Respectos.
The 2010 Bill Stutt Stakes jumps on Friday, September 24. Stay tuned for the final field announcement and a full preview of the upcoming Moonee Valley event.
