2015 Bill Stutt Stakes Nominations Released

September 28th, 2015

A talented group of thirteen have been included in 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) nominations, highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting three-year-old racing prospects.

Polish Tiger has stamped his claims as a serious prospect for John Sadler through a short but impressive career so far and has been included in 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes nominations.

Finishing fifth in a pair of minor Victorian sprints upon debuting in August, Polish Tiger charged home to finish a close second in the Quest Moonee Valley Handicap (1500m) before posting a maiden win in impressive fashion in the Crush Fine Wines Maiden (1409m) on September 24th.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig are set to launch a two-pronged attack on the Group 2 race for three-year-olds after including both He’s Our Rokkii and Sovereign Nation in Bill Stutt Stakes nominations.

Beginning his racing career in New Zealand, He’s Our Rokkii ran third in the Supporters Maiden (1100m) before placing second in the Group 3 Phoenix Park 2.y.o Classic (1200m) before running on for an impressive fourth in the Group 1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).

Having taken out his Australian debut by close to three lengths on September 15th, the Roc De Cambes gelding appears primed for maiden black type success in the Bill Stutt Stakes.

An exciting prospect for notable owner Gerry Harvey, Sovereign Nation debuted for success in the William Hill Maiden Plate (1000m) on August 28th before running on for a credible seventh amongst classy competition in the Listed Pin & Win Stakes (1400m) on September 12th.

Co-trainer Lee Freedman has a huge opinion of three-year-old Ragnaar, and will saddle the colt for only the second time in the 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes.

Ragnaar debuted to racing in the Racing At Avondale Maiden (1200m) on May 8th, Ragnaar progressed to third in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes (1400m) on May 23rd.

Having taken out a Bendigo minor over 1400m in his Australian debut on September 17th, Freedman is confident Ragnaar is a serious Victoria Derby prospect and believes the 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes will figure as a key indicator as to whether or not the three-year-old is up to the task.

The 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
