2015 Bill Stutt Stakes Tips and Betting Preview

October 1st, 2015

Ten three-year-olds remain in contention for Friday’s Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

One of two entrants for David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Sovereign Nation ($4.40) has maintained position atop 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Ragnaar ($4.60) and He’s Our Rokkii ($5)

Will Sovereign Nation justify favouritism and win the 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Ragnaar ($4.60)

Kiwi import Ragnaar has more than stamped his claims as one to watch, and will make his Australian black type debut in the 2015 Bill Stutt Stakes. Debuting to racing for second in the Racing At Avondale Maiden (1200m) on May 8th, Ragnaar made a competitive transition to black type racing in running on for third in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie on May 23rd. Charging home to take out the Lois Ballantyne Memorial Maiden (1400m) on September 17th, the Roc De Cambes gelding will leave from the ideal barrier 4 with Ben Melham aboard.

2nd

He’s Our Rokkii ($5)

He’s Our Rokkii has contested a similarly-impressive career start and appears as though he will be hard to beat in the 2015 Stutt Stakes, but will need luck in running from barrier 10. Debuting in New Zealand for third in the Supporters Maiden (1100m) on January 30th, He’s Our Rokkii ran second in the Group 3 Phoenix Park Classic (1200m) before running on for a credible fourth in the Group 1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on March 28th. Debuting in Australia for success in the Westcourt Insurance Shepparton Maiden (1206m) on September 15th, He’s Our Rokkii will be partnered by last start hoop Damien Lane.

3rd

Sovereign Nation ($4.40)

Sovereign Nation received something of a reality check when seventh in the Listed Pin & Win Stakes (1400m) last time, but appears as though he will enjoy a step-up to 1600m for the 2015 Stocks Stakes. Trialling well prior to his competitive debut, the Encosta De Lago colt debuted for an impressive win in the William Hill Maiden Plate (1000m) in what was his only other start prior to the Pin & Win Stakes on August 28th.
